Mantua Poppy Fields

I have driven past Mantua on the way to Cache Valley many times but have only stopped a few times. I read a little while ago about the poppy fields that bloom in spring here in Utah. One field in Alpine (too far away for my taste) and another in Mantua (winning! on the way to see family)!

So on the way to visit family one weekend in June we decided to see if they were still in bloom and we were not disappointed. This is one of the most awe inspiring things I have ever seen. So many beautiful flowers just growing wild! Nature is amazing

This busy little lady, and many of her friends, were very busy gathering pollen. She is so loaded with pollen. We have kept bees and we have never see one carrying so much pollen. Until we noticed all the honey bees we did not realize how dark the pollen from the flowers was. You can literally see it just falling off middles of the flowers.

This is one of my favorite shots from the day! I plan to try and paint some of these poppies. Thinking back I still can't believe how many flowers there were.
We saw the field near the end of the bloom and you could tell there had been many people there. When you go to see these fields please be mindful of those who will see it after you and stay on the paths. It will not only keep them nice for the year, but also keep them growing for years to come.

I highly recommend a stop at one of these fields. Maybe next time we will take a picnic with us and really make a day of it.
